About

Top Gear Scout is a weekend long adrenaline filled Patrol Activity & Competition Camp like none other!
Patrols will work together in completing over 15 activity bases across the weekend, activities may include BMX, Billy Carts, Car Smash, Abseiling, Archery, Chariot Races, RC Cars, Box Car Making & A Lake Surfmoot ‘Beach Party’ just to name a few!

For Scouts aged 12 & over we also give them the opportunity to learn how to drive a car in our very own Junior Development Program (JDP)

How do I Register?

Registrations are now CLOSED

Whilst registration to Top Gear Scout is performed on an individual basis due to the requirement for Parent/Guardian consent for the Motorsport Activities we strongly recommend speaking with your Scout Leader before registering, just in case there are any additional troop costs or requirements in order to attend Top Gear Scout.

Scouts Aged 12 & Over ( $120 )

Step 1 – Download & Read the Motorsport Pack

Download the Motorsport Pack – TGS2020-JDP-MotorsportPack-CAMSApproved

Read & Understand the Motorsport Pack, you will be asked questions in the Online Registration.

Step 2 – Online Registration

Fill out the Online Event Registration Form – Event: “Top Gear Scout 2020 – Scout aged 12 & Over Ticket“

During Online Registration you will be asked for a Parent / Guardian Signature along with a Signature from your Scout, make sure both are present while filling out this form.

Step 3 – CAMS License Registration (+$35 – If you do not hold a valid CAMS License)

Fill out our Online Junior CAMS License Form.

* To participant in the Motorsport activities (Driving & Hotlaps) all participants must hold a Valid CAMS License.

** CAMS Licenses are issued by CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motorsport) directly & depending on Medical History or Status CAMS may not be able to issue you with a license.

Step 4  – Payment of Fees​

You can make payment via Credit Card on our website during registration or via Bank Transfer,

Once payment is received we will send you a payment confirmation email & Confirmation of Event Registration.​

FAQ's

Below is some of our frequently asked questions, if your question has still not been answered after reading these please get in contact with us via email ( [email protected] ) or via our online contact form on our Contact Page.

Do I need to be a Scout to attend Top Gear Scout?

Yes, you must be aged between the ages of 11-14 and registered as a Scout or Guide in order to attend.

Leaders, Parent Helpers and Rovers are also welcome to attend.

Do I need a CAMS License?

Yes, for Scouts aged 12 & over a CAMS License is required in order to participate in the Driving & HotLaps (Motorsport) Activities.

CAMS Licenses are issued by the Confederation of Australian Motorsport directly & will be sent out via mail prior to the event.

I bought a CAMS License last year, is it still valid?

If you purchased a CAMS License last year then it should be valid until the end of March 2020, check the license card for it’s expiry date.

If you have lost the license card please contact CAMS directly in order to obtain a replacement.

What is the Accommodation?

You will be camping, your Troop will need to bring all the normal equipment required for a camping weekend minus cooking equipment.
We will assign you a camping bay to set up in when you arrive on site.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a health form (if not on Care Monkey), water bottle, bedding, dilly bag, toiletries and clothes.

In order to participate in the driving you will need to wear a long sleeve shirt and pants. Something easy to wear over shorts and t-shirt is ideal if the weather is warm so it can be taken off when you’re not driving.

Don’t forget to pack for the conditions – sun protection if it’s warm, rain gear if it’s wet.

Your Troop will also need to bring usual camping equipment (Minus Cooking Equipment)

Do I need to bring food?

No, Top Gear Scout is a fully catered weekend. You will need to bring a dilly bag though.

I have a modified diet, can you cater for me?

Yes, our catering team has plenty of experience in catering for a wide range of modified diets.
If you have a trickier diet our Modified Diets Manager may give you a call to confirm a menu for you.
If you are concerned about your modified diet you can email [email protected] to discuss your needs.

Can I attend without the rest of my Troop?

Yes you are able to attending without a full troop or patrol. We will assign you to an ad-hoc patrol for the weekend.

If no leaders are able to make it from your troop then we will make sure our Welfare team are aware & make allowances for you to be placed under the care of another Troop for the weekend.

Can I attend if none of my leaders can attend?

Yes you can attend! If no leaders are able to make it from your troop then we will make sure our Welfare team are aware & make allowances for you to be placed under the care of another Troop for the weekend.

Is there First Aid at Top Gear Scout?

Yes, we will have members of the Victorian Scouts First Aid team onsite.
The park is ambulance accessible and there are two hospitals within an hour’s drive of the park.

I have medication I need to keep refrigerated over the weekend, is this possible?

Yes, you can either bring a personal esky or we can store them in a refrigerator at first aid or the main hall.

I have a medical condition that prevents me from getting a CAMS license, can I still come to Top Gear Scout?

Yes you are still able to attend Top Gear Scout, We will assign you different activities to do while your Patrol does the Motorsport Activities..

Can a Venturer Helper attend with our Scout Troop?

Yes, Venturer helpers are able to attend the weekend with a Scout Troop however please email [email protected] prior to registration to let us know!

How long do I have after registration to pay?

All payments are expected within 7 days after registration is made (if payment is not made via Credit Card during).

As a Leader what is expected from me during the event?

During the event we require leaders & parent helpers to assist with running activities & other event jobs.
During your registration you will indicate which activities or jobs you would like to assist with.
We will issue a roster to you upon sign in.
